The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging period, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the US Open. His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - led to him exiting of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-time coach his previous coach. Now training with Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought three-set win over opponent Moutet. This marks the player's maiden trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt from that period of that year. Victory also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 different competitions. "For the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters together, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," said tennis professional the champion. "This title is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her." Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, including in Halle earlier this year. His defensive play style and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his skill to perform at the top level was finished. Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to come to the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serve. He recovered from a break down in the first set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the final five points to go ahead. The pair exchanged break points in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first ATP Tour title, gained dominance to push for a decider. He defended four early-game chances in a tight final set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to secure the win. Suitably, the winner earned the title with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
