Major Russian Attacks Cut Electricity In Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in the region
The country's energy systems have come under increased attacks in the past few days

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused power cuts in multiple districts of the capital city, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were injured while inhabitants in the city's east were left without electricity and encountered problems to water supplies, according to local authorities.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was killed in a different assault in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southern area, based on information from local officials.

Moscow has increased strikes on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while the country's government has demanded "real steps" from allies to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the America, Europe and the Group of Seven - in delivering protection systems and enforcing penalties," was stated in a public message.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and several dozen rockets targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were striving to restore power.

A series of attacks damaged electrical systems and residential structures in Kyiv.

Multiple people hurt in the strikes on the capital have been taken to hospital, per statements from local officials.

Area administrators said the metropolitan region experienced significant strikes during nighttime hours. A young boy was killed and several individuals were wounded.

The attacks follow evenings of air raids in the area, portions of which are occupied by Russian forces.

The whole nation is in a state of readiness for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to spot.

Government officials told the media that Russia was deliberately attempting to damage the national power system, with attacks already affecting fuel infrastructure.

Authorities confirmed technical personnel and officials were anticipating more assaults.
